Paul and Lynn: Potholes/Moses Lake - 4/6-11
Great Spring Adventure April 6-11
Lynn and I headed for Moses Lk on Sunday to try Moses for the first time. The Connally boat launch was closed and we missed the one at Cascade on our way back so headed for the Potholes reservoir.
Talked to a local when we arrived at the east end boat launch. He had done quite well on walleyes and said the population of "eyes" had exploded the last two years and they were fishing year round during open water.
We put in about 3:30 and caught three decent fish. We were wind drifting along the rip-rap as there was a good breeze making this effective. Until I turned the Minn-Kota too quickly and wrapped my line around the prop. Went in and spent an hour straightening out the mess.
Monday, Lynn managed to scratch out two decent "eyes" and we caught a couple perch and some throwbacks. Tuesday, we picked up four walleye, a couple perch, and a 14 inch smallmouth. Wednesday was brisk and choppy so we waited until the afternoon when the wind laid down. We both caught limits in about two hours.
Moved to Moses on Thursday since that was our original intent. We caught sixteen fish but threw back more than we kept. Was hard to catch a 15 incher and many were barely legal. Had a great five days fishing and a wonderful way to start the fishing season for us.
