Greg, Grant and Lindsay: Badger Lake - 6/29

Grant (5 yr old), Lindsay (3 yr old) and I went to Badger Lake after church on Sunday. We spent an hour and a half trolling for trout and eating lunch on the boat. We caught 4 fat rainbows in the 13 to 15 inch range. We had a 5th fish on the line. It appeared to be the biggest of the bunch, but broke the line after a couple jumps and flips. Gusty winds and cloudy skies made it feel chilly, so we decided it was time to drive into Cheney and have some ice cream.

More info: The Minn Kota I-Pilot was made for dads with little kids. I set the trolling motor to 1.8 mph, locked the direction on the compass, and we were fishing. I had hands free for handing out sandwiches and drinks. We pulled walleye spinners behind the boat about 70 yards with a half ounce egg sinker for weight. We tried chrome and orange spinners. Both produced fish.

Grant proudly holds this Badger Lake trout for the camera.

Grant and Lindsay love ice cream more than fishing...at least for now.
