Jim and Greg: Hunters - 8/23

Jim and I fished at Hunters during the August 23rd Club Fishing Day. We enjoyed ideal weather with lots of sunshine, light north winds, and temperatures in the 70s. The fishing was very good. We kept 22 walleyes in the 14 to 19 inch range. In the evening, Jim jumped onto new member John's boat and Shirley hopped onto my boat. Shirley promptly caught the biggest fish of the day...a 21 inch walleye weighing about 3 pounds.

More details: The walleyes that Jim and I caught were in 40 feet of water relating to main lake points and mid-lake humps. We fished south of Hunters down to the Nayborly area. Spinners and bottom bouncers were our most productive presentation, but we did have some success slow jigging a small main lake point. Walleyes on this particular day were color blind. Every color we tried caught fish.

Shirley caught this 21 inch walleye...weighing 3 pounds  It was the biggest fish of the day.

Trolling bottom bouncers near Nayborly.
