Eli and Greg: Rock Lake - 1/10
Fishing was pretty slow for us at Rock Lake on Saturday. We ended the day with one 16 inch brown trout, one 15 inch largemouth, and a dozen 12 to 14 inch rainbows. We spent the majority of the day casting a variety of crank baits, stick baits, and soft plastics. We missed dozens of bites throughout the day. The fish would peck at the bait without a solid strike. We found the largest concentration of fish at the very north end of the lake, but they were not the big browns we were hoping to catch. All of the fish at the north end were rainbows suspended in 10 to 30 feet of water. Fast trolling crank baits (over 2 mph) produced the best action for these little rainbows.
We met another angler at the launch at the end of the day. They had 7 or 8 nice browns. Trolling crank baits and Flatfish with downriggers in 15 feet produced these fish.
