Greg and Larry: Lake Roosevelt - 2/20
Larry and I fished out of Fort Spokane on Friday. Fishing was slow, but we enjoyed the nice weather and the solitude of Lake Roosevelt. We only saw a handful of boats all day long. We ended the day with 8 fish in the live well. Six of our fish were in the 16 to 19 inch range. We kept a couple 12 inchers, too. All fish were males. We chatted with a few locals on the water. They claim that the fishing has slowed in the Fort Spokane area compared to 2 weeks ago.
More info for Club Members: We spent almost the entire day on the main lake looking for active fish. We used bottom bouncers and smile blades to troll slowly in 35 to 50 feet of water. Our first stop was Outhouse Flats which produced nothing. Next we hit the large flat across from Seven Bays. Within the first 20 minutes, I got a double. We set a way point and fished that area for the next 3 hours picking up seven fish. Four fish were caught on smile blades with a floating bead, and three fish dragging jigs. Our last stop was the Island about a mile below the Fort Spokane launch. We picked up our last small fish there in 35 feet.
