Larry B, Lyle P and Greg: Roosevelt - 3/25
Larry, Lyle and I fished out of Porcupine Bay from 830 AM to 330 PM. It rained nearly the entire day. Thankfully, we had rain gear that kept us dry. We would have left the lake earlier, but it was hard to abandon the hot walleye bite. Conservatively, we caught 50 fish between 10 and 18 inches. The lake level is 1253 feet. The boat ramp is down to one lane, but is in pretty good shape (a bit bumpy, but do-able).
More Info for Club Members: We spent the majority of the day in the Blue Creek area slow trolling crawlers on Smile Blades and bottom bouncers. Fish were anywhere from 22 to 50 feet deep. Our best success seemed to be about 35 feet deep. Color didn't seem to matter much. Only 2 of the fish we cleaned had eggs (18 incher and 14 incher). The walleye in the Blue Creek area were ghostly white suggesting that they have been spending a lot of time in deep water. We made a run up above the Narrows around lunch time and drifted the channel in 40 feet. We caught 4 dark colored fish (10 inchers) up there in an hour.
