Tom and Dianne: Roosevelt - 4/17
Finally got warm enough to get my wife out fishing. Launched at Porcupine Bay about 11 AM and spent a fruitless two hours at the Cemetery and off the mouth of Blue creek. Went up stream to the bay just above the narrows must have been 8-10 boats in the upper end of the bay. Stopped and joined the crowd. D. was pitching jigs, I tried using a drop-shot rig. The bite began as soon as we had the bait on the bottom. Drop-shot produced quicker results so my wife switched to a drop-shot rig also. For the next couple of hours it was a fish a cast, unfortunately out of the 30 or 40 fish we caught only about 4 or 5 were 15 inches. Had a lot of conversations with other fishermen, and what the fish lacked in size they made up for in abundance. Found a spot over a hole 50 ft. deep about 40 ft. from shore on the edge of the main channel. Anchored and cast to shallower water and worked slowly back to the boat. Any color worked. Saw one fish caught that might have been 18-20 inches and had a guy tell me he had one about 3 lbs.
