Jim and Family: Banks Lake - 5/16
Since Greg and I scouted out the area the two previous days, I took my two young kids, wife and mother in law straight to Barker Cove and trolled right at 18’ the whole time. I ran three rods each with a three way rig and a variety of tiny crank baits. All colors and makes of lures worked. This was an extremely easy method to fish for walleye with for kids. Water was shallow enough, weight needed was minimal, no re-baiting needed, just crank up a fish and drop your lure back down. We ended up catching a walleye every few minutes for the two hours we fished. All walleye except one were just below the 16” minimum limit. We also put a half dozen large perch in the live well during the afternoon. My 4 year old son caught the only keeper walleye of the day which brought much excitement to the boat, and then again to the dinner table a few nights later.
