Kettle Falls - Picnic 6/18-21

There was an excellent turn out for the June Picnic at Kettle Falls. Lots of club boats were searching for walleyes. Fish were scattered as levels on Roosevelt rose about a foot per day. By Sunday the lake level was near 1277 feet. The community holes that often produce well during the June Picnic had very few fish. We hit places like Evans, Marcus, Singer Bay, and The Little Dalles the first couple of days with little to show for it. The mouth of the Colville kicked out a few fish from Thursday through Sunday. Patient anglers could catch a handful of decent sized walleyes (15-18 inchers) in several hours. By Saturday and Sunday, a few of us tried the Kettle River. Once again fish were scattered, but were worth the effort. Quite a few of the Kettle walleyes were 17-20 inches. Breezy winds on Sunday produced mud lines along the points south of Bradberry Beach. A few boats targeted the chalky water and brought 5 to 10 nice fish per boat to camp. Some big rainbows were also in the mud lines, too.

Allan caught and released this 28.3 inch walleye on Sunday. It weighed 7lbs 6 oz.
