Mark and Linda: Snake River - 8/16-21

We fished at Texas Rapids from August 16-21st.  Conditions were hot with some light winds, coming and going.  We did get blown off the water on the 21st.

As usual here, the Walleye were fewer but larger.  We caught a handful of nice eaters with a 2.5 & a 3.0 lb. along the shoreline opposite the campground from the railroad bridge on downstream past the campground.  We fished in deeper water, 30'+, due to the heat.  The further downstream we went, the fewer the bites.  Last year in the area of the granaries we did very well -- this year, not a nibble there.

Linda caught this 5.6 lb. on the campground side and just downstream from the campground.

One was caught on a deep diving crank bait on about 100' of line.  We had better luck with bottom bouncers and worm harnesses using a Northland "sunrise" Colorado spinner, orange beads, and a green speckled plastic worm, kind of a Perch pattern.

No shortage of dink smallmouth Bass.

Looking forward to the club trip there in October!
