Joe M: Snake River - 11/12
Neighbor Fred and I fished 20 foot for 2 hours with no results, moved out to 30 feet and had these girls in the boat in 15 minutes. They were released. The next couple hours where non eventful, then just before we had to leave we got a nice 21 inch pan fryer, great day on the water (no wind, but cool)
MEMBERS ONLY. Thought I would share my technique. We fish with down riggers if we target water deeper than 15 feet, which we almost always do. I trail the ball with 15 feet of line, and use a light release. It is important to use a lure that will dive below the ball, you don't want your lure to go thru the same water as the ball, my lures dives 10 feet below. Set the ball to keep the lure within 2-3feet of the bottom. My sonar is set up to ping the lure so I know exactly how deep it is running, see picture, the ball is at 15 and the lure is a 25. Dont trail too far back or your lure will move out of the cone. Give it a try, good luck.
