Allan W and Greg K: Snake River - 7/28-30

We arrived at the Snake River on Friday around 330 PM and were on the water by 4 PM. It took a couple hours to find fish on Friday evening, but we ended with a strong evening bite at sunset putting 10 walleyes in the boat in the last hour and a half.  Fishing was steady the whole weekend. We averaged about 12 walleyes per day and lots of little smallmouth bass. Most walleyes were in the 16 to 18 inch range, but we did get several around 20 inches. No monsters this trip. The biggest walleye was 4.25 pounds and about 22 inches.

More info for club members: Trolling crankbaits along rocky areas near channel edges accounted for most of our walleyes. Spots with a moderate amount of current within a mile below Little Goose Dam held the most fish. A size 9 Purpledescent Rapala Taildancer was the hot bait Friday and Saturday in 15 to 20 feet of water. On Sunday, the walleyes weren't as picky and took various crankbaits including Flicker Minnows, Flicker Shads, and Strike King Walleye baits. We utilized Snakebite snap weights to get these shallower diving baits into 20 to 30 feet of water along channel edges.

Swimming to cool off in the 95 degree heat was a must. We were in the water several times a day. 63 degree water felt great!!!Greg was the first one to ski behind Allan's new Lund.
