Greg and Jeff K: Northeast KS - 7/25-26

I visited my brother in Emporia, Kansas. Of course it was hot and humid, but we got lucky with 2 days of light south winds. We fished Coffey County Fishing Lake on the 25th and 26th. Despite the warm weather, the fishing was excellent. We had a 30 fish day on the 25th and a 40 fish day on the 26th. We caught about 15 walleyes each day along with lots of white bass, hybrid white-striped bass, and several big drum. Trolling fire tiger Flicker Shads caught the majority of our fish. Walleyes ranged from 15 to 19 inches with the biggest a lone 21 incher. The afternoon air temperatures on the 25th was 95 degrees. Water temperature 88 on this nuclear power plant cooling lake!!!

Greg holds a 21 inch NE Kansas walleye.

Jeff holds a 5 to 6 pound freshwater drum. Biggest drum he ever caught. This fish did not want to come off the bottom!
