Greg and Allan: Snake River - 11/1
Fishing was tough for us on the Snake River. Allan caught a thick 22 inch walleye (released). We also landed 3 smallmouth bass in the 13 to 16 inch range. We were on the water by 9 AM and fished until 6 PM. The air temperature was 24 degrees when we launched and it warmed into the upper 40s in the afternoon. With no wind, the afternoon was comfortable, but the morning was quite cold. Water temperature was down to 50 degrees. There was almost no current.
We fished the flat at Texas Rapids until about 1 PM. All the fish we caught came in this area on deep diving crankbaits. Allan’s walleye came on a white Bandit as he cast it toward shore. The bass were caught on cranks trolling the channel edge in about 30 feet. Bouncers and crawlers near the mouth of the Tucannon, the grain bins, and the mouth of the Palouse were unproductive. We tried depths ranging from 15 feet to 45 feet.
