I fished with Allen Walker, his Nephew and 5 of his college buddies from The Univ. of Wisconsin. I had two in my boat and Allen had four. We started at 9AM up by the launch on that long break that terminates by the red boathouse. Didn’t pull anything. Then we moved to the large flat just west of the Slalom course and started trolling flicker Shads. One of my passenger immediately hooked into a very nice walleye that broke the hooks right at the boat....We estimate it to be in the 5-6 lbs. range....... Heartbreaking!! That would've been his biggest fish ever.... I got him fixed up with another flicker shad and he dropped back in......He wasn't in the water 2 minutes and he hooked another walleye. This one looked to be more in the 2-3 lbs range. However, like the first, he got it up to the boat before the hooks pulled out and we lost that one too.....
The bite slowed after that and we tried another bay, trolling deep and shallow..... With no luck, we returned to the big flat where we did get hit..... At the end of the first pass, Allen's Nephew nailed a beautiful 27.5 inch hog.....she went just under 8 lbs. And we were able to successfully get her in the boat..... She was released after a few high fives and measurements..... His next assignment will be to learn how to take fish pictures...... We kept trolling and a few hours went by.....Finally we decided to try on front of the light house. My two guys were trolling flicker Shads and I was casting one. I nailed a very nice 26.5 walleye which went 6.5 lbs. We also caught a few bass........Allen's boat caught a nice crappie, a few bass and something big, but I ll let him tell that story........
