Greg K: Kettle Falls - 3/8/21
There were 4 club guys fishing out of 2 boats in good weather on a Monday. Fishing was very slow. Zero fish from both boats through 2 PM after fishing several spots. Allan picked up one fish by mid afternoon to break the seal. Travis and I motored to a new spot and picked up 4 walleyes in 15 minutes. Allan and Patrick joined us and we gradually caught another 7 walleyes before the bite stopped. Both boats ended the day with 6 walleyes in the 17 to 20 inch range. Water temperature was 38 degrees. You could see the bottom of the lake in depths of 15 feet…very clear. Weather was mainly sunny with thin high clouds.
More info for club members: Blade baits caught all of our fish. 3/8 ounce. Natural colors like olive, brown, and cream colors worked best. Flashy finishes and bright colors did nothing. Best depth was 25 to 30 feet along the channel edge with a bit of current.
Allan fished Kettle for 5 or 6 consecutive days. He averaged 5 fish per day. Largest walleye of the trip was 24 inches (released).
