Allan and Greg: Roosevelt - 5/28/2021
Allan and I had limited success on a cool and breezy day at Roosevelt. West winds gusting to 25 mph made boat control difficult in some spots that are usually productive this time of year. We fished several areas on the Spokane Arm and caught lots of walleyes, but most of them were shorter than 13 inches. We finished the day with 3 small ones (15-16 inchers) in the live well. The water temperature was around 60 degrees. Water clarity was very good, probably around 6 feet.
More info for club members: We pulled bottom bouncers in various spots from above Buoy 7 to the Narrows. The highest concentration of walleyes was in the Buoy 1 area into the upper portion of the Narrows. We caught at least 15 walleyes in this area, but most of them were 13 inches or shorter. They were in 35 to 40 feet. They showed a strong preference to gold smile blades. Half a crawler worked best because a whole crawler was quickly bitten off by these small walleyes.
