June Picnic at Kettle Falls: June 17-21
Members of the Spokane Walleye Club enjoyed good fishing and warm weather during our annual June Picnic and Camp Out. Several members averaged 6 to 10 keepers averaging 14 to 20 inches in a typical half day of fishing. The lake was near full pool with a water temperature in the low 60s.
More info for club members: There was a consistent bite in the Kettle River Thursday and Friday. Members caught fish in 20 to 30 feet of water about 4 miles up the river between the campground and the railroad trestle. Trolling bottom bouncers with with the current as an effective way to cover water and catch walleyes scattered in the channel. Flashy metallic Colorado blades and various smile blade colors were effective. On Saturday morning, a couple anglers in our group enjoyed a good bite in Singer Bay along emerging weed beds keeping 12 walleyes.
