My father-in-law and I fished Lake Roosevelt on a Friday. We were not in a hurry to get to the lake since it was a frosty morning. We were on the water around 10 AM, and met up with Allan. As we pulled up to him, he was landing a fish. Within 5 minutes, I landed my first walleye. It seemed like we were on our way to a great day. Unfortunately, as the morning clouds disappeared, the bite ended. We had 4 walleyes (16-18 inches) by 1230 PM which made a delicious shore lunch. We caught nothing in the afternoon. Water temperature was 44 degrees which was about the same as last trip I took on March 25th. Lake elevation was 1249 feet.
More info for club members: We caught 3 of our 4 walleyes at Blue Creek in 30 to 35 feet of water. Metallic smile blades worked well within the first hour of fishing before the bite stopped. There were many boats fishing between the bottom of the Narrows and the mouth of Blue Creek. According to other boats, the morning bite was decent in the deep channel, but bites were nearly non-existent in the afternoon. We tried trolling spinners near the Weeping Wall and Buoy 1. We got no bites above Porcupine Bay, and the water was moving pretty fast up there.
