My neighbor is a school teacher, and his last day of summer vacation was Tuesday. Time to go to the lake and end the summer on a high note. The weather was great, the fishing was good, and the shore dinner was delicious. We did end his summer on a high note indeed!

We fished from 1000 am to 3 pm and got 18 walleyes. Oddly there were no bass or trout on this trip. It took an hour to get our first bite as we searched for the right spot and depth. The water was flat calm and the bites we got prior to 1130 am were very light. As the south wind increased to 5 to 10 mph, the fish became more active. Between 130 pm and 3 pm, bites became far more aggressive and fish would hook themselves as the rod doubled over. Even small fish were hitting our crawler rigs aggressively, and we scored several doubles as we trolled. Lake elevation: 1281 feet. Water temperature 72 degrees. Air temperature mid 80s under sunny skies and south wind 5 to 10 mph.
