Allan and Greg: Lake Spokane - 2/2/2026
Allan and I made plans months ago to be at Curlew Lake to ice fish near the beginning of February. We cancelled that trip due to the warm winter. We needed to get our perch fix elsewhere, so we decided to give Lake Spokane a try. We have caught lots of perch there in the fall, so why not give it a try? I picked up some maggots and crawlers to see what would happen with my ice rod out of Allan’s boat. We caught and released a couple walleyes (17 and 21 inches) and 3 smallmouth bass while we searched mid-lake humps, flats, and channel breaks. Once we marked the unmistakable pile of perch on sonar, we hit anchor lock. We stopped counting after we had 12 perch in about 10 minutes. Between the two of us, we caught a perch every couple of minutes for 3 hours. The 2 biggest were between 13 and 14 inches. The average was 10 or 11 inches. We released all the fish we caught.
