Greg: Rufus Woods - 4/13/2026

April is a beautiful time to be at Rufus Woods below Grand Coulee. The hills are kinda green and the flowers are blooming. Pheasants, turkeys, quail, and other game birds are calling. And big walleyes are biting! I didn’t catch many, but I the walleyes I did catch made me happy. My big fish for the day was 28 inches and weighed 7lb 15oz. I also got a 22 inch female and three male walleyes in the 18 to 19 inch range. I fed a 19 inch pikeminnow to a bald eagle that pulled him out of the water 15 yards from my boat. The weather was fantastic…70 degrees with light winds. The current was weak most of the day, finally picking up as I was heading back to the boat launch.
