Banks 5/5-5/8
Bank Lake May 5th to 8th.
Tom & Dianne , Bill & Michele, and Doug N spent four days at Osborn Bay on Banks Lake.
5th was a weather transition day with scattered showers so we sat it out and enjoyed a great campfire as it cleared up in the evening.. There were several other fishermen there and these guys were hardcore. Hardcore fishermen leave at first light, come in for lunch charge batteries and go out again until you can't see.. The average fisherman leaves around 8:30 in the morning, comes in for lunch, goes back out until 4 or 5 in the afternoon and may go out in the evening. Then there is the recreational boater who has fishing rods. We go out around 11 A.M. and comes back around 4:30, make dinner sits around and shoots the bull, builds a campfire and discuss how to catch fish until it's time to go to bed.
The hardcore guys were doing pretty good on blade baits, with fish to 5 lbs. I don't think they ever got a daily limit, but plenty of fish.
The 6th was a beautiful day but for us the fishing was marginal. Several sub-legal walleye including my smallest ever. 5 inches maybe. Bill picked up a 21 inch walleye and a 20 inch whitefish. Doug came down late so didn't get out as early as us. He picked up a couple of 20+ fish just as we were coming in.. Pulling spinners in 20 to 40ft no particular color dominated. We were off the mouth of Jones Bay
The 7th another beautiful day. Things were really slow at first although I was marking a lot of fish on the sonar, off the North point of Krucks(sp) Bay. We all were pulling spinners. 2 o'clock the bite came on. I got a 19 my wife got a 19. Bill picked a 20 then a 27 that went 6+lbs. There was a Montana couple pre fishing for the tournament, they got a 24. Doug got a 23 and I picked up another 21. Then it was over. 45min in a 100yd by 100yd 30 to 35 feet deep.
The 8th started out nice then the wind came up and blew us off the lake.
