Greg, Bob and Ty: Roosevelt - 10/29
It was probably the last chance for the season to get a couple of my coworkers out on the water. We didn't have the time to make a run to Potholes or the Snake River, so we fished Roosevelt. It was a tough day for walleye fishing. Through 3 PM, we only managed 1 smallmouth bass. We spent the last 2 hours of the day trolling for trout. We got half a dozen bites and landed 3 rainbows in the 16 to 18 inch range.
More info for club members: We fished the Buoy 5/7 areas for a couple of hours, The Narrows, and Blue Creek in depths ranging from 20 feet to 80 feet. We couldn't find any walleyes. The only other boat we saw fishing all day was at the Weeping Wall. When we pulled up to them, they were just catching their last fish to fill their limit of rainbows. We removed our bouncers and put a couple egg sinkers to get our walleye spinners down into 15-20 feet. We trolled 1.5 to 2.0 mph over 35 to 60 feet of water. Copper and orange spinners produced bites with a half a crawler. It was neat to see the trout scattered in the area with the side imagery on the Humminbird.
