Greg and Kids: Roosevelt - 4/27
Monday was perfect weather for fishing...mid 60s, sunny and no wind. Grant (6 yrs) and Lindsay (4 yrs) have been anxious to go fishing this spring so we headed to Lake Roosevelt. We had a great 4 hours on the lake. We brought home 7 walleyes in the 12 to 16 inch range. We released a few. Some were released intentionally and others were accidentally "released" as the kids remembered how to net the fish. By 3 PM, it was time to find the playground. Fishing is fun for a little while, but the kids agreed that it was time for the swings and teeter totter .
More info for club members: I returned to the pattern that has been productive the last 3 or 4 weeks at Blue Creek. We pulled Mack's Smile Blades behind 2 ounce bottom bouncers in 50 to 60 feet of water along the steep break from the mouth of Blue Creek to the end of the submerged point in the river channel. We put four fish in the boat in a couple hours. Even with no wind, boat control with kids was tough. It was a challenge to maneuver around the other boats in the area, so we went to the top of the Narrows and drifted the "Reservation side" of the channel in 35 to 45 feet. We caught several fish there before the kids were ready to move again. On the way to the playground at Porcupine Bay, we made a pass along the channel near Loughlin Bay without a bite.
