Greg and Lindsay: Roosevelt - 9/3
Since big brother is now in school, it was daddy/daughter day on Thursday. When we pulled into Porcupine Bay, we saw Mark and Linda camping. As I chatted with them, Doug, Evan, and Tom pulled into the parking lot. It was a spontaneous club fishing day! Fishing was pretty typical for early September...slow and spotty. Doug and Evan managed 12 to 15 keepers. Greg and Lindsay got 5. Tom's techniques worked well for catching bass, but only got him one walleye. We were all off the water by 430 pm, and decided to have Mexican food in Davenport on the way home.
More info for club members: We started fishing the channel between Buoy 5 and Buoy 7. Fish were scattered in 30-40 feet of water. Bottom bouncers with spinners and crawlers worked best for walleyes. Tom got lots of bass action jigging a bit shallower, but the walleyes seemed to hang in the deeper water. We tried several spots working our way back to Porcupine Bay. We found a few in the Blue Creek area before calling it a day.
