Greg: Roosevelt - 4/1
I made a quick trip to Lake Roosevelt to attempt to find some fish prior to our Club Fish Day on Saturday. The weather was beautiful! Bright sunshine, no wind, and afternoon temperatures in the upper 60s! I caught fish at 4 of the 5 spots I tried. Between 10 AM and 4 PM, I got 13 walleyes. Most fish were between 15 and 17 in. The biggest was 18.5 in. Water temperature was around 45 degrees. Lake level 1253 ft.
More info for club members: I launched at Seven Bays and motored across the main river channel. The most productive area on Friday was the flat across from Deer Meadows. The fish were deeper than I expected...between 50-60 feet. I used a 2 ounce bouncer and pulled Smile Blades and Slow Death rigs. Chartreuse was by far the most productive color outproducing sliver and purple. I moved below the Big Rock across from Seven Bays and picked up a double in 50 feet of water, then moved to Casino Flats (no bites). I tried a couple spots in the Arm around McCoys Store. The water was stained in the Arm and a couple degrees warmer. I caught to 10 inch fish in 40 to 45 feet before returning to the flat across from Deer Meadows.
