Club Fish Day: Snake River - 10/14
We had a good turn out for our Fish Day with the Tri Cities club. Spokane Walleye Club had 8 boats and Tri Cities had several boats as well. A few big fish were caught. A member of the Tri Cities club landed and released a 13 pounder. Greg caught and released a 10 pound walleye. Travis caught one nearly 8 pounds and another around 5 pounds. In general fishing was slow. A 10 to 15 mph wind developed between 10 am and 2 pm that made boat control tricky. The weather was ideal for those of us who stayed Sunday and Monday, but the fishing slowed as the weather got warmer. Allan caught a 5 pounder on Sunday and Greg got one just shy of 5 pounds on Sunday as well. Linda M caught the biggest fish on Monday at 18 inches.
More Info for Club Members: The majority of walleyes caught over the weekend were taken by trolling crankbaits. The 13 pounder was caught on a spinner and bouncer, but the rest of the big fish mentioned in the paragraph above were caught trolling cranks in areas with a chunky rock bottom with good current. Travis and Greg had a 14 fish day on Saturday trolling size 11 Berkley Flicker Minnows in 17 to 22 feet of water. Mark and Linda M had success trolling large Cabela's Walleye Runners, and Lyle caught several walleyes on this bait as well. Perch and Firetiger colors seemed to catch most of the walleyes over the weekend while silver and purple patterns seemed to catch bass.
Attendance: Lyle and Eve P, Tom and Dianne F, Mark and Linda M, Stan J, Allan W, Greg K, and Bob from Kooskia camped through the weekend. Travis S, Sanford F, Ken L, and Joe M made day trips on Sat or Sun.
