Greg K: Roosevelt - 10/4

I took the week off. I love fall fishing and my father-in-law from Illinois is in town all week. Since I drug him to the Snake River and back on Monday, we didn't feel like spending much time in the car. We went to Roosevelt. For a change of pace, we targeted rainbow trout. We caught 8 rainbows between 17 and 20 inches in 3 hours. With more than enough trout for the smoker, we targeted walleyes for a couple hours. Caught nothing but a few smallmouth. We talked to a couple others at the boat ramp, and only one other walleye was caught between 2 other boats.

More info for club members:  Boo!!!! Hiss!!! Trout. I can hear your cries loudly. Settle down....my father-in-law really likes to catch them and eat them. We caught all of the rainbows near the "Weeping Wall". Side imagery is a wonderful tool for finding suspended fish. Within a few minutes we found them suspended in 35 to 40 feet of water. With that intel, we added 3 ounce snap weights to our lines and let out a total of 130 feet of line. Chartreuse and orange Colorado blade walleye spinners with a half a crawler did the trick. No dodgers, no flashers, no expensive flies. I caught a 13 inch walleye suspended with the trout. On the way back to Ft Spokane, we fished "The Narrows" in several spots for walleye from 25 to 50 feet...only bass.
