Greg: Roosevelt - 4/25
After finishing my last night shift, I grabbed a couple hours of sleep and hit the road. I launched at Ft Spokane around 1 PM and was off the water by 7 PM. I tried a couple of spots and finally found a school of 15 inch walleyes that were eager to bite. Once I found them, it didn’t take long to catch a limit. Water clarity at Ft Spokane was poor, but the visibility was good on the main lake and also good up the Arm. Water temperature was in the upper 40s.
More info for members: When I arrived at the launch, a couple grumpy old guys claimed that the fishing was terrible up the Arm. With that info, I thought I would try the main lake first. I tried Outhouse Flats with no luck, but I did find a couple small walleyes in 75 feet of water across from Seven Bays. Not wanting to fish that deep, I moved to up the Arm to Blue Creek. Within 2 minutes at Blue Creek, I caught my first walleye and the bites were consistent for the next couple of hours. For eater sized fish, I pulled 3 ounce bouncers with Smile Blades and Slow Death Hooks in 50 feet of water. (no color preference) I did manage to catch a couple bigger fish by casting a blade bait into 15 to 25 feet including a 17 inch male and a 21 inch female.
