Greg K: Roosevelt - 5/7

My daughter finished up her home school assignments around 2PM, and we hit the road. On our way to Porcupine Bay we saw several boats on the highway returning to Spokane, and by the time we arrived at the launch there were about 15 rigs in the lot. We fished from 4PM to 715PM and got 14 keepers and released several small fish. Most of our keepers were in the 15 to 17 inch range. We did get an 18, 19, and a 20…so a few nice ones mixed in with the smaller ones.

There were no fees for launching, but the Aquatic Invasive Species slips were attached to trucks that hadn’t filled them out.

More info for club members: We motored up to Buoy 1. The water had some color, but the clarity wasn’t bad. I tied on a green/chartreuse smile blade and Lindsay picked silver/blue. She caught 3 fish on the first drift before I had a bite. Both color combos continued to produce for the 3 hrs that we fished so we didn’t bother changing. I originally kept the boat near the current seems or slack water which produced lots of small walleye and a few bass. The larger walleyes were in the deep channel (35 to 40ft) in the faster current.

A nice 18 incher. She’s feeling good.

Now, she has a 20 incher and rubbing it in.
