Greg: Roosevelt - 6/26

A warm and sunny Friday. I fished Roosevelt from 830 AM until 4 PM. Fishing was slower than expected. I ended up catching 16 walleyes, a smallmouth bass, and a trout. I didn’t find any good concentration of fish and had to move around to get them. The average size was very nice with many larger than 16 inches and several around 18 or 19. The lake was near 1285 feet which is pretty close to full pool. The water temp ranged from 64 to 68. A couple other boats returned to the launch about the same time I did, and had similar results. Good fishing but not great.

More info for club members: I started the day in the channel above Buoy 7 and made 2 or 3 drifts with the current pulling an orange smile blade on one rod and a silver on the other. Silver caught the first fish within 10 minutes and orange caught the next four walleyes by 10 AM. After an hour without any action, I motored down between Buoy 7 and Marker 5 and caught several of the biggest fish of the day and the bass in that area in 25 feet. Green, gold and silver. I got bored of trolling so looked for mud lines and weeds closer to Porcupine but only caught 2 walleyes and a trout casting Flicker Shads. I ended the day at Blue Creek. I padded my total number of fish caught there in 45 feet pulling bouncers, but they were all dink-throw backs. The launch was quite busy. Nearly 90 degrees + 4 PM on a Friday = Lots of ski boats and jet skis.
