Roosevelt: Greg and Mark -5/9/2024

Mark and I enjoyed a beautiful day together on the Spokane Arm. Fishing was slow in the morning, but we found fish in the afternoon. We ended up catching 17 walleyes between 14 and 18 inches. The water temperatures was 53 degrees. It was a warm day with afternoon temperatures in the 70s under bright sunshine and light winds.

More info for club members: It was Mark’s first time on the water since the fall of 2022. We enjoyed the warm sun and the sound of turkeys in the morning, but the fishing was slow. We didn’t mark any fish at Blue Creek, so didn’t try it. My spot a mile above Buoy 3 didn’t produce much early in the day. I motored a couple miles above Buoy 7 into the narrow channel by the blue house. We only go one walleye there. There was nothing between Buoy 7 and Marker 5. Didn’t get any bites near “The Stairs” either. With only 4 walleyes in the well, I went back to the deep channel just above Buoy 3. Similar to my trips back in April, walleyes were biting in holes that were at least 50 feet deep. Metallic Smile blades worked the best like silver sparkle and gold with black scales. The most productive time was between 4 pm and 6 pm.
