Greg, Ed, and Mike: Roosevelt - April 28, 2025
I joined Ed and Mike from church for a trip to Roosevelt. We had no problem catching walleyes on Monday, but it was a struggle to find anything big enough to keep. I am guessing we landed 25 walleyes, a couple smallmouth bass, and a pair of perch. We kept a 17 inch walleye, a handful of 11 inchers, and a perch so Mike could make some fish tacos. The rest of the small walleye were released. The water temperature was 51 degrees and lake level 1265 feet. There were less than 10 boat trailers in the parking lot.
More info for club members: We launched out of Porcupine Bay and fished from 10 AM to 330 PM. We caught small walleyes everywhere we fished. Laughbon Bay, below Marker 5 to the Steps, the channel between the Steps and Bouy 3, and along the Weeping Wall. Perhaps we were fishing too deep 30 to 50 feet for decent sized fish, or maybe the mature fish were busy spawning upriver.
