Greg: Club Fishing Event at Hunters - 5/16-17/2026
I had the pleasure of spending Saturday with KC. We launched shortly after 9am on Saturday. Club members Bob, Ryan, and kids launched just ahead of us. Mike and Tina launched just behind us, and Kevan shortly thereafter. We dodged rain, shifting winds, and heard thunder in the distance but the conditions were decent for fishing. KC and I struggled in the morning, but put together a pattern in the afternoon. We ended up cleaning 20 walleyes and throwing about a dozen back. KC got big fish for the day which was between 17 and 18 inches. The majority of our keepers were around 15 inches. Kevan and his buddy picked up 9 walleyes. Bob, Ryan and company also kept 9, but left around noon since the kids were not pleased with the rain and wind. Mike and Tina went south of Hunters and got chased back to camp by lightning and spent much of the day at camp. Thank you Mike and Tina for hosting the evening bonfire!
I fished solo on Sunday. The morning was cold with a low in the 30s. I did not want to get out of my sleeping bag, and didn’t end up launching the boat until well after 9am. The chilly morning breeze diminished after I launched the boat, and the weather was ideal until scattered showers and thunderstorms developed early afternoon. I had a 16 fish limit by 2pm and headed home. Great weekend with great people!
The lake level was around 1258-1259ft with a water temperature in the mid to upper 50s. The dock at Hunters was well above the water level, so having club folks there to assist with launching was nice. There was also no water available at Hunters Campground. Rumor had it that the lake level was too low for water.
